T.Loop opens the World's First Data Energy Center on December 7th in Häggvik

A year ago, T.Loop commenced the groundbreaking work on the world's first Data Energy Center® in The Factory, Häggvik. This Thursday, December 7th, marks the grand opening with a festive holiday mingle and distinguished speakers.

The Swedish impact company T.Loop is an energy center operator with the intent to fundamentally change the data center industry's standards for circular energy flows. This initiative aims not only to reduce the data center's climate impact but also to make them climate-positive by reusing the excess heat from the servers and the reserve capacity.

The Data Energy Center® is the first of its kind in Sweden, utilizing immersion cooling. This cutting-edge technique involves submerging computer components in a thermally conductive and dielectric liquid, efficiently cooling servers and transferring heat directly from the source to the liquid. The surplus heat generated is then repurposed to warm buildings, support district heating, and contribute to grid-balancing services.

Situated in the basement of the iconic "The Factory" building in Häggvik, Stockholm, T.Loop's 0.2 MW Data Energy Center® is at the forefront of technological advancement. Specifically designed to accommodate Edge, AI, and HPC workloads, this state-of-the-art facility provides a secure and robust platform, meeting the escalating capacity demands synonymous with these cutting-edge technologies.

The opening on Thursday, December 7th, will feature a festive mingle, exciting speakers, and a unique opportunity to visit the Data Energy Center® – the first data center in Sweden utilizing liquid cooling, i.e., immersion cooling.

One of the distinguished speakers is Jonathan Evans, a renowned person in the data center world, with a strong focus on sustainability and green technology. Jonathan will share insights into the latest sustainability trends within data centers.

Mathias Sundin, the angry optimist, and editor-in-chief for Warp News, will also address the audience. As a driving force behind the "Energisamhället" project in Lund alongside Jonas Birgersson, Mathias will share his vision regarding the societal implications of unlimited and affordable energy.

T.Loop's overarching goal in establishing the Data Energy Center® is to play a crucial role in achieving the emission reduction targets outlined in the Paris Agreement. The surge in demand for data centers, fueled by digitalization, contributes significantly to current emissions. By creating a circular business model involving data centers, property owners, and energy companies, T.Loop aims to drastically reduce emissions in these sectors and contribute to the green transition.

One who has dedicated his life to documenting the nature significantly impacted by climate disruption is the nature photographer Mattias Klum. It therefor felt natural to approach Mattias and inquire if he would be willing to attend the opening of the first Data Energy Center® and share insights into the circular ecosystems of nature.

The event has garnered significant interest, with only a few spots remaining.
