Well-Connected at Smart City World Expo 2024: T.Loop’s Insights and Inspiration
Throughout 2024, T.Loop has had the privilege of participating in the Swedish Energy Agency’s investment accelerator program. This past week, we joined the Nordic-Baltic delegation at the Smartcity Expo World Congress in Barcelona—a global event and hub for groundbreaking innovations in sustainable urban development.
Our journey began on Monday with the pre-event Smartcity Business Day, hosted by Cleantech Scandinavia, Vinnova, DMI Ecosystem, and Trade and Innovate with the Dutch. Here, T.Loop’s CFO, Max Ekengren, introduced our concept to a highly knowledgeable energy panel. This panel featured key stakeholders from across the energy sector, laying a foundation for engaging discussions on renewable strategies and collaborative solutions.
Cecilia Hjertzell, T.Loop’s Chief Sustainability and Marketing Officer, led a workshop focused on Circular Energy. The goal was to explore ideas for capturing the vast amounts of energy typically seen as waste but that hold untapped potential. The session yielded a wealth of creative solutions, which we aim to consolidate into a white paper based on this and upcoming workshops, with the goal of inspiring decision-makers at the upcoming World Economic Forum in Davos. We encourage the sharing of further ideas within our LinkedIn group, where dialogue on this important topic can continue to grow.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, Max and Cecilia participated in panel discussions on key industry topics, where our concept for a Data Energy Center® received enthusiastic feedback. This concept reflects T.Loop’s commitment to transforming data into actionable insights for energy efficiency and sustainability.
As we bid farewell to Barcelona, we reflect on the productive days spent here. The Expo provided a remarkable view of the ever-expanding range of cleantech solutions emerging on a global scale. It was clear that a significant shift has occurred in the market—companies increasingly recognize that the future lies in embracing green business models to drive sustainable revenue. Equally evident was the need for strong collaboration across private enterprises, the public sector, and academia to incorporate the diverse perspectives essential to building the sustainable cities of tomorrow.
We return home enriched with new knowledge and a wide array of promising connections. A sincere thank you to everyone who contributed to these valuable days, with special appreciation to Cleantech Scandinavia and Energimyndigheten for their tremendous support before and throughout this journey.
T.Loop looks forward to deepening these connections and advancing the ideas born from this inspiring week.
