Diversity as a Driving Force: T.Loop's Commitment to Equality in the Data Center industry

T.Loop's CSO & CMO Cecilia Hjertzell on the list for influential tech women

Recently, T.Loop’s Chief Sustainability and Marketing Officer, Cecilia Hjertzell, was recognized as one of Sweden’s 99 most influential women in Martech by Resumé Magazine. With a career spanning the tech industry since 2007, Cecilia understands the challenges and opportunities inherent in increasing gender diversity in data center operations and technology sectors at large.

“Increasing the visibility of women leaders is a critical first step in attracting more women to the tech industry,” Cecilia shares. “Over the past decade, tech has made impressive strides toward inclusion. I believe the data center sector is at the start of a similar journey. By 2025, with leaders like Regina Donato Dahlström at Equinix Sweden and our own Helena Fagraeus Lundström at T.Loop, we will see this progress accelerate and inspire more women to join”, says Cecilia.

Why Diversity Matters in Tech

Cecilia emphasizes the direct link between diversity and success, “Equality is essential for sustainable and thriving tech companies. By encouraging more women to enter and stay in the industry, we can mitigate the talent shortage that the tech sector currently faces. Inclusion drives innovation, ensuring we solve today’s and tomorrow’s challenges with the breadth of perspectives we need.”

The data center sector, however, illustrates the challenge starkly. According to the Uptime Institute:

  • In 2023, almost half of the data center workforce had over 20 years of experience, and by 2025, half of these professionals will retire.

  • The workforce required to operate global data centers is predicted to grow from 2 million to 2.3 million by 2025.

  • Yet, as of 2021, more than 75% of surveyed data center operators reported that women made up less than 10% of their staff—a figure unchanged since 2018.

T.Loop: Leading by Example

At T.Loop, we’re committed to defying these trends by embedding gender equality into the heart of our organizational structure:

  • Advisory Board: 75% women, including leaders like Pernilla Ramslöv, Hanna Setterberg, and Christina Carlmark.

  • Board of Directors: Undergoing transformation to achieve 75% female external representation.

  • Leadership Team: One-third women, including our CEO, Helena Fagraeus Lundström.

  • Operations: 27% women, far above the industry average.

  • Ownership: 33% of T.Loop’s owners are women, with 20 female investors among our 61 shareholders.

Jonas Nyman, T.Loop’s Chairman, underscores our commitment, “These numbers mark the beginning of our journey in 2025. But our focus on gender equality remains constant, and we promise to share updates as we continue to make progress.”

Diversity as a Catalyst for Innovation

At T.Loop, we believe the absence of women in tech is not just a loss of talent—it’s a missed opportunity for groundbreaking ideas and solutions. The challenges of building tomorrow’s infrastructure, addressing climate concerns, and driving innovation require all voices at the table.

We’re proud to be a part of the transformation in the tech industry, setting benchmarks for what an inclusive and forward-thinking organization can look like. Together, we’re shaping a future where diversity isn’t just celebrated—it’s foundational.

Let’s lead the way.
